There are different funding options to help you access the care you need, whether it’s through government programs or private health cover.

NDIS Funding

If you live with a disability, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can help cover your physiotherapy. 


Whether your plan is self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed, you can use your funding to get the physiotherapy support you need. 


The goal is to help you work towards your NDIS goals, like improving your balance, staying active, or increasing your mobility.


If your goal is to walk more confidently, sessions might focus on exercises like heel raises to strengthen your calves or single-leg stands to improve your balance. 

Every exercise is chosen to match your ability and your goals.

Home Care Packages

If you are an older adult and receive a Home Care Package, you can use this funding to pay for physiotherapy.

The goal is to help you stay as independent as possible, right in your own home. 


Physiotherapy can help with improving balance, increasing strength, and reducing the risk of falls.


You might do simple balance exercises like side leg raises or practice sit-to-stand movements to keep your legs strong. These exercises help you stay steady and confident in your daily life.

Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan

If you have a long-term health condition, you might be eligible for Medicare-funded physiotherapy through a Chronic Disease Management Plan. 


This plan allows your GP to refer you for up to five physiotherapy sessions each year. These sessions are partially covered by Medicare, which makes getting the help you need more affordable.


If you have arthritis, you might work on gentle exercises to keep your joints moving, like seated leg extensions or simple hand stretches. 


These exercises are aimed at reducing stiffness and helping you feel more comfortable.

Private Health Insurance

Private health insurance can also help pay for your physiotherapy.

If you have extras cover, you may be able to claim part of the cost of your sessions. 


The amount you get back will depend on your insurer and your level of cover. You can check with your insurance provider to see how much of your physiotherapy is covered. 


If you are recovering from surgery, sessions might include guided exercises like knee bends or ankle pumps to help you regain strength and mobility.

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)

If you are a veteran, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) can fund your physiotherapy.

This support is aimed at addressing health issues related to your service and improving your quality of life. 


DVA funding can help cover sessions that focus on reducing pain, improving movement, and building strength.

If you are dealing with shoulder pain, you might work on exercises like shoulder rolls or wall push-ups to ease stiffness and improve strength. 


These sessions are designed to help you stay active and independent.

WorkCover Funding

If you’ve been injured at work, WorkCover can fund your physiotherapy.

WorkCover funding helps you recover safely and get back to your job. 


Home-based physiotherapy means you can get the care you need without having to worry about traveling to a clinic. Your sessions might include exercises that focus on your specific needs for work. 


If your job involves lifting, you could work on squats and core exercises to make sure you are ready to return to work safely. Each session is about building strength, easing pain, and getting you back on track.
